New....We Now Offer A Beginners Swedish Class!
Generally, our regular classes require basic knowledge in the Swedish language and normally that is not a problem. We have also found that there are many families in the area with children who have never lived in Sweden and it may mean that they are not quite ready for our regular classes conducted in Swedish. With this understanding and the fact that the school has received requests for classes in the Swedish language and culture for children that would not yet be able to fully benefit from our regular education, The Swedish School for Children is pleased to announce that we will now offer a new class in Fall '10 to meet this demand. The Fall '10 semester begins on Saturday, September 11th. If you are interested and would like to learn more, please contact our Headmaster, Tove Elfström, by email: rektor@svenskaskolanwashingtondc.org

Our school was founded in 1976, and is one of the world's largest of its kind. This year we have grown some more, but we still have space in most groups. For the Fall '10 semester, starting Sept. 11th, we welcome Swedish-speaking children of all nationalities between 4-18 years.

Midsommar med Svenska Skolan för Barn i Washington DC (EN)
Midsummer with the Swedish School for Children in Washington DC
The Swedish School for Children celebrated Midsummer in McLean, Virginia this year, but felt like we were celebrating in Sweden with the rippling brook and swaying birch trees surrounding us and creating the perfect background to enjoy Midsummer with family and friends . As is customary, we all helped out decorating the Maypole with the flowers and green leaves, which everyone had contributed.
