Välkommen från rektor (EN)
Welcome from the Headmaster
Greetings from the Headmaster,
My elementary school, where I enrolled in late 1950's, had a Headmaster that was indeed very sensitive to local needs. He understood the local traditions and did everything he could to make us embrace them. His history lectures were especially colorful. He always gave us half a day off in October so we could visit the Lenneryd's country fair, which was only held at that time. Unfortunately the county school inspector came on such an afternoon, so we had to stop that tradition.
Our goal is not to give extra breaks, but to pay attention to the needs of our students and provide education that is thorough, based on local needs, and engaging, just like my old Headmaster Ivar Sandberg would have wanted. As a teacher for a quarter of a century, I want to empasize that in order to guide our children to reach maturity, both teachers and parents must pay close attention to their individual needs. That is what I'm experiencing in discussions with teachers, parents, and the board regarding both pedagogic and organisational issues. Please let me know your views, suggestions and good ideas.
My goal for the fall semester is to listen carefully and evolve our school so it will continue to be an engaging cultural community and a responsible provider of language training. With the support from you, the parents, to the board, the teachers and among yourselves, our success is assured. If we then all make an effort to speak, read, and sing Swedish at home, our work will be even easier.
Looking forward to seeing you in the Swedish School,
Tove Anders Elfström
